Pomegranate bud in edible landscapeWhat is Los Poblanos Organics Edible Landscapes?
LPO Edible Landscapes offers landscape design service for people interested in cultivating organic herbs, vegetables, and fruit. We believe that by encouraging organic and local agriculture at any scale we are making a positive step towards creating a sustainable community.

The community supported agriculture (CSA) at LPO represents a philosophy and life-style that our members can support by using the ideals of LPO in designing their personal landscapes.

The LPO Edible Garden Designs hopes to one day have a network of residential farms throughout the Albuquerque metro area. The prospect of tasteful, tasty, and productive mini farms is exciting and promises a hopeful future.Green chili roasting

Design Style
The size of the space is not as important as the intensity of cultivation. We work at all sizes with a focus on maximizing the edible aspects to create a productive and functional landscape to suit your needs. We will not neglect the many other uses of outdoor space because we focus on food production. Each site is unique and must be treated as unique for the design to fit your needs, the neighborhood, and the geographic location.

Example Design Types
Kitchen Garden - Typically located in most active outdoor area near the residence. Container herbs in edible landscapeElements may include raised beds, mixed perennial beds, herb spirals, trellises, shade structures, and outdoor kitchens. Ease of access, function, and integration of edibles with ornamental plants is the goal.

Edible Urban Residence - The design intent is the creation of a system of food production, water catchment, composting, and functional outdoor human space within the residential landscape. People space and access are fundamental to a successful, useful design.

Family Farm - This design style integrates all aspects of the Edible Urban Residence on a larger scale of Bee in claret cup in edible landscaping1 acre and larger. Large yields and diversity are the goals. Spreading the edible aspects throughout the landscape creates the opportunity to encounter fruit, vegetables, and herbs around every corner in secret gardens and sitting areas.

Edible Landscape Consultations
Consultations are useful for people currently cultivating and building edible landscapes. New or undevelopedlandscapes should consider the Landscape Design option.

Consultations typically cover irrigation techniques, rainwater collection, pruning, plant selection and rotations, compost, erosion control, and/or overall site health.

The consultation will include a walk and talk in the client’s buffalo berry as part of an edible landscapelandscape to explore the opportunities and constraints of the site. Specific recommendations and sketches will be created and discussed on site.

Request a Consultation
